Initiative 1- Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards

Activity – Webinar on Solar Energy : Save thy Earth was an initiative taken by Bosco Public School, a workshop was organized on 22 April 2021 on ‘Solar Lamp’. The resource person Er. Srinivas, founder, and President of Scientific Students enlightened young Boscons about the need and use of renewable sources of energy. He showcased various gadgets working on solar energy and inspired students to create the same.

Initiative 2- Improve education, awareness-raising, and human and institutional capacity for climate change mitigation

Activity I – Awareness Drive -Visit Meteorological Department: Bosco Public School, Paschim Vihar, organised an educational trip to The Indian Meteorological Department, Lodhi Road. A group of 37 students of class IX along with Social Science faculty members visited different observatories of IMD.
The students visited Central Hydro Met Observatory and got exposed to various scientific techniques used for daily measurements of temperature, soil temperature, wind velocity, direction and rainfall. The Ozone Centre acquainted them with Air Quality Index mechanism. The last Department was the National Centre for Satellite Meteorology wherein they learnt about various weather forecasting techniques and satellites.
It was an experiential learning process for students where students inquisitively cleared their doubts from the experts.

Activity II – Save Thy Earth-Plantation Drive: Students of Bosco Public School, Paschim Vihar participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the TREE PLANTATION DRIVE that was organised in association with Gau Sewa Samiti on April 30,2022 (Saturday) . Students of grades V to X classes planted saplings in Bhera Enclave, vicinity of the school to raise awareness and consciousness about environment among the masses.
Sagacious school Principal - Mr. Rajiv Duggal, Dynamic Vice Principal - Ms. Priya Handa along with teachers lead the event. Principal Sir and Vice Principal Madam enlightened the students to join hands to save the Mother Earth and grow more and more trees to make this planet beautiful. This initiative also enwrapped SDG Goal 13 - Climate Change, and made the students imbibe the fact that how trees play a major role in the keeping climate change in control.

Activity III – Combat Climate Change- Climate Summit: An Inter-house competition was organised, where each house was allotted a Country (Sweden, Japan, India and France). They explained the actions taken by each house to resolve climate change. The students presented their ideas with the help of a PowerPoint presentation.

Initiative 3- Integrate climate change measures

Activity I– Virtual and In-School Assembly:

1. Virtual -Nature Conservation Assembly

To waste, to destroy our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed.
To sensitise Boscons about the importance of nature conservation, students of class X presented a virtual assembly, highlighting the significance of each resource of nature.

2. Assembly on The Earth Day 2022

Students of class X B and V-C presented an insightful assembly on the topic Earth Day.
The Nukkad Natak ,self composed poem and thoughtful compering left the audience spell bound . The students gave an epiphanic message to plant more tree , to control pollution Save mother earth and make it a better place to live in.

Activity II– Save Trees, Save Life- Vrikshabandhan: Young Boscons celebrated a unique bond - 'Vrikshabandhan' symbolising a sense of protection and care for our green sibling by tying a rakhi to the tree.
