Initiative 1- Promoting Peace through Film & Art: The Sadako Story & Paper Dove Activity

Activity: The activity involved Grade I students showcasing a short film based on the captivating narrative of Sadako and Thousand Paper Cranes. Subsequently, the students participated in a hands-on arts activity, wherein, they made paper doves. The activity proved to be a colossal success in promoting peace awareness among students and provided them with an outlet for their artistic expression. The students were able to glean insights through the poignant tale of Sadako and the importance of peace. They expressed their creativity by making paper doves. Through this immersive activity, students were able to develop a more comprehensive understanding of their potential contributions to promoting peace and the dire need of taking proactive measures to achieve it.

Initiative 2- Peace Tree

Activity: The students of Grade II were presented with an exceptional opportunity to assume the role of Peace Ambassadors for a day. In line with this, they had the chance to highlight symbols of peace from diverse cultures and faiths, showcasing the beauty and diversity that can unite people across the globe. The main objective of this activity was to promote peace and unity among the students while celebrating the diversity of their backgrounds. Through zealous participation, the students developed a deeper appreciation for the distinctiveness of cultures and religions, while learning the value of working collaboratively towards peace.

Initiative 3- Promoting Peace and Justice: Student Representations of Nobel Laureates

Activity: The students of Grade III had the opportunity to represent Nobel Peace Prize winners and their famous slogans. Students used printed masks for delivering Nobel Peace Prize winner slogans. This unique and engaging activity allowed the students to learn about the important work and accomplishments of Nobel Peace Prize winners, while also encouraging public speaking skills and creativity. By embodying the spirit of these inspiring individuals, the students developed a greater appreciation for the importance of promoting peace and social justice in the world.

Initiative 4- Join Hands Banner

Activity: In this activity, students of Grade IV explored the diversity of the United Nations by writing the word ‘peace’ in different official languages on cut-outs of hands. The aim was to encourage the appreciation and celebration of different cultures and languages that make up the UN. The students used their creativity and language skills to write the word ‘peace’ in different languages, such as French (‘paix’), Spanish (‘paz’), etc. The students placed the cut-outs on a wall, creating a vibrant and colourful display of different languages and cultures. This activity promoted a sense of inclusivity and global citizenship, encouraging students to embrace and respect diversity while celebrating the common goal of promoting peace in the world.

Initiative 5- Debunking Fallacious Advertisements: Analysing Unfair Messages in Media

Activity: In this activity, students were tasked with analysing and rectifying fallacious messages conveyed in advertisements through various media sources. Each student was asked to search for an image that they felt conveyed unfair message and then write a one-line caption explaining why and how the advertisement was unfair. Through this activity, students learned how to critically analyse and identify fallacious messages in advertising and media. The activity encouraged students to develop their analytical skills and think critically about the messages they are exposed to in their daily lives. By identifying and rectifying unfair advertisements, students were able to promote a greater understanding of ethical advertising practices , promote fairness and equality in advertising.

Initiative 6- Making a Peace Pledge: Promoting Kindness and Compassion

Activity: In the school assembly, students took a pledge to promote peace and kindness in their daily lives. They pledged to treat others with respect and compassion, and to stand up against bullying and violence. The pledge emphasized the importance of creating safe and inclusive environment for all, regardless of differences in culture, race, religion or background. By taking this pledge, students demonstrated their commitment to promoting a peaceful and harmonious community. The pledge served as a reminder to students to act with kindness and empathy, both in the school and in their wider community.

Initiative 7- Silent Unity Against Bullying: A March for Change

Activity: The school's Anti-bullying team organized a silent march against bullying, and a group of students from Grades 9 and 11 were selected to participate. As a part of this activity, the students made posters and wrote slogans to spread the message against bullying. The event aimed to raise awareness about the negative impacts of bullying and encourage a culture of respect and kindness within the school community. Students learned about the importance of standing up against bullying and importance of promoting a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.The school's Anti-bullying team organized a silent march against bullying, and a group of students from Grades 9 and 11 were selected to participate.
